General Laborers perform various tasks to ensure that overall day-to-day operations function as normal. General Laborers are responsible for practicing general safety and communication effectively with crew members, customers, and others at or around the job site. In this position, individuals should perform all tasks assigned, which includes, but is not limited to: physical labor using hand tools and equipment to construct, modify, repair, maintain, and tear apart railroad tracks and other components within a rail yard. The average hourly wage for a General Laborer ranges from $17 – $20 per hour. While we encourage all levels of experience to apply, the ability to quickly learn and understand visual communications such as signals and warnings is preferred, as well as the ability to adapt to short notice pertaining to extensive travel and inclement weather.
